Elberta Dunes South features majestic glacial moraines, towering dunes, untouched forests and a 1/4 mile of sandy Lake Michigan beach. A hiking trail leads to sweeping views of Lake Michigan and the surrounding Betsie Valley. This property hosts the Pitcher’s Thistle- listed federally and by the state as a threatened species, the Lake Huron Locust- a state threatened insect, and Piping Plovers- a federally listed endangered species, have used this part of Lake Michigan’s shore for nesting.
